Obituary of Marion Cutler Giguiere
Marion Cutler Giguiere was born September 6th, 1943 in Salt Lake City, Utah to father Charles Henry Cutler & mother Mary Vance Cutler. Marion lived most of her life in Northern California and the greater Sacramento area with her older brother Charles (“Div”) and younger sister Elizabeth (Betsy).
She graduated from El Camino High School in 1960 and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of California Berkley in 1964. She was a member of the Sigma Kappa sorority. During her senior year at Berkley, she met Allan Hoover the grandson of Herbert Hoover. They were engaged in 1964 and married at St. Michael’s Church, Carmichael on August 21st, 1965.
Marion and Allan lived in San Francisco’s Park Merced for the first 6 years of their marriage,welcoming their first child, Deborah in 19679. Finding the quarters at Park Merced too small for a growing family, they moved to Greenbrae and expanded their family to include a son, Allan III, in 1971.
Marion and family moved to Sacramento and added another son, James in 1979. While a devoted mother raising three children, she also helped her husband manage their cafeteria business in Sacramento. Once the nest began to empty Marion later worked as a substitute teacher in the San Juan Unified School District and later as a Cancer Data Collection Specialist for Sutter Health.
Allan and Marion divorced in 1990 and in 2003 she met Christian Giguiere. They married in 2005 and spent many happy years traveling the world. Marion moved to Denver, Colorado in 2020 to be closer to her son, Allan. After her health declined, she moved to Balfour at Riverfront Park in downtown Denver where she passed away peacefully on August 12th, 2024 due to complications from COPD.
Marion is survived by her husband Christian Giguiere, eldest daughter Deborah Farmer and son-in-law Jonathan Farmer, son Allan Hoover III, daughter-in-law Michelle Hoover, grandchildren Mary Elizabeth Hoover, Andrew Charles Hoover and Thomas Allan Hoover, and youngest son James Charles Hoover, eldest brother Charles “Div” Cutler and sister-in-law Linda Cuter, sister Elizabeth Wasinger, brother-in law Larry Wasinger, nephew Erik Wasinger and niece Carrie Wasinger.
A funeral service followed by a reception will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church at 801
Figueroa Street, Folsom, CA 95630 at 11:00am on September 7 th , 2024.
