Obituary of Kevin Sweeney
Kevin Sweeney died peacefully on Friday, Nov. 17th after a valiant and long fight with respiratory failure. Born in Madison, Wisconsin to Diane (nee Ager) and Gary Sweeney in 1980, Kevin grew up in a house full of boys with his three brothers, Todd, Brian, and Sean. After high school, Kevin attended University of Wisconsin-Madison where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science. However, his thirst for knowledge was not quite quenched, so he continued his studies at the University of Denver where he earned a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Science in Real Estate and Construction Management.
Upon graduation, his career path led him to Prologis where he ascended to Vice President of Global Strategy & Analytics. It was also where, in 2007, he met the love of his life, Amy Klein. And, let’s be honest, the other love of his life, Amy’s dog, Cassie.
Just a few years later, Amy and Kevin revealed their not so secret romance and married in 2011 in Los Angeles, CA. It was soon after that the couple welcomed their first daughter, Mya in 2014 and then Keira in 2016. Kevin was an avid fisherman, a skier, an incredible artist, an animal lover, and an amazing Dad. He was also extremely handy and enjoyed tackling many home projects throughout the years. Despite everything he faced over the last year and a half Kevin never gave up, fighting every day to get home to his family. Kevin would like to be remembered for being the devoted husband and adoring father that he was.
Kevin will be missed by his loving family, his numerous friends, and his admired professional network. He was smart, funny, and would do anything for his family, especially his girls.
Kevin is survived by his wife of 13 years Amy Sweeney and children Mya and Keira. Son of Diane and Gary Sweeney of Madison, WI. Son-in-law of Jane and Jon Klein of Denver; Brother of Todd Sweeney, Brian (Stephanie) Sweeney, and Sean (Sara) Sweeney, all of Madison, WI; Brother-in-law of Andy (Tracy) Klein of Broomfield and Jeff (Marnie) Klein, of Denver. He is an uncle to numerous nieces and nephews ranging from 3 years-old to 20 years-old.
Service, Tuesday, Nov. 21st, 11:30am, Feldman Mortuary Chapel, 1673 York Street. A livestream will be available on Feldman Mortuary’s YouTube Channel. Interment will immediately follow at Emanuel Cemetery (within Fairmount Cemetery).
Condolence calls will be at the home of Kevin and Amy directly following services on Tuesday until 8pm.
In lieu of flowers, Kevin’s family requests contributions to be sent to Mile High Lab Mission, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and Shwayder Camp c/o Temple Emanuel.
