I remember Rabbi Fine when I was very little, and he was the head of the Hebrew School at the Hebrew Educational Alliance on Stuart Street. He was a very creative teacher and also ran our youth activities. One of the ways he would teach us about famous people in Jewish History was his own version of the old TV Game Show "What's My Line" Someone would pose a famous Jewish person and a panel of students would ask questions to figure out who they were while also learning about them. It was fun and taught us how to think critically. What an important why to learn about Torah as well.
I teach Religious School today, and sometimes when we have spare time in class, I use the same game to teach my students.
The last time I saw Rabbi Fine was about 6 years ago, as he was jogging around Sloan's Lake wearing his US Army logo gym close. How wonderful it was to reconnect even briefly.
May his memory be a blessing. Baruch Dayan Emet.
