Obituary of Merrill Kolbe

Merrill Samuel Kolbe (Mel) C.L.U, Ch.F.C. September 26, 1931- July 9, 2013. Following a brief illness, Mel, beloved husband of Wendy (Née Parkinson), passed away on July 9, 2013. Mel was born in the Bronx, New York City, son of Charles and Jessica Kolbe. He graduated from Taft High School with notable achievement in track and field. After serving his country in the Air Force, Mel had a distinguished career as an Insurance Agent, primarily with Mutual Benefit Life and subsequently Sun Life of Canada, earning Million Dollar Round Table and Excalibur status. He was an expert in sports trivia, crossword puzzles and enjoyed traveling with Wendy. Mel held his business associates, friends and acquaintances in high esteem. Mel is survived by Wendy, his wife of 36 years, Children, Marcus, Bruce (Becky), Roxanne and Paul (Tammy), Grandchildren, Jesse, Nicholas, Nicole, Kimbrie, Breanna, Jakob, Maxwell and a great grand-daughter Lilianna. Mel loved his dog Sitka. A celebration of Mel's life will be held at a later date. In Lieu of flowers, donations in Mel's memory may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
