I just learned of David Zauder's passing and was saddened to learn of this loss. I am a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music and came to know Mr. Zauder around CIM and from attending the Cleveland Orchestra concerts. He was so open and positive and made a wonderful impression on me. Later, I was one of several students invited by my harp teacher (Alice Chalifoux) to audition for him as a backup musician, I was so excited to play for him. When Mr. Zauder called me many months later, I knew there was only one reason that he would be calling me and I still remember how excited I was as he asked me to fill in the second harp position for the 1985 Blossom season. He was so supportive and encouraging to me and I am so glad that I had the opportunity to know him and later work with him. I believe that he completely fullfilled the promises he made to his father and he left this world a better place. My deepest condolences to his family.
