Obituary of Mary Morris
Mary, Mayta Bobrick Morris 92, passed away from complications of pneumonia in Denver, Colorado on November 26, 2012. She was the beloved wife of Harold Morris who died November 11, 2012. Mary was born in Yassy, Romania and came to America when she was a year old. She lived in Denver at least half of her life and lived the other half in Hallandale, Florida. Where ever she lived, she maintained her strong interest and curiosity in fine art. She was a docent at the Denver Art Museum and the Fort Lauderdale Museum of Art. Up until her death she was studying to lead tours for the next exhibition in Florida. She had gypsy feet most of her life and together she and her husband Harold traversed the globe by plane and ship. She accompanied her husband on his accomplished journey to the Saint Lawrence River in his own boat. Mary went on a 4 day visit by herself two years ago to Barcelona, Spain so that she could see the cathedral. Her generosity will be remembered by the many who were the beneficiaries of her generosity. She will be sorely missed by her children, who enjoyed her stimulating company and her great sense of humor. Mary loved to teach others about art. She was a painter most of her adult life and she won several prizes for her paintings. Mary was an avid reader, sometimes devouring a book in two days. Mary Bobrick Morris is the author of the children's book Henry and The Land of Amberlomate. Mary is survived by her children, Arleen and Norman Shabel, Barry and Gail Morris, her grandchildren, Daniel and Kathryn Shabel, Alexandra Shabel, Jessica, Craig, Adam Morris and Jacqueline Zenziper, greatgrandchildren, Wyeth and Samara Shabel and Gavin Zinziper and Jillian Winegand.
